PA Sport Opens Up Debate on the Actim Index.

August 2008 - PA Sport has created the official Actim Index Blog for the launch of the new 2008/09 football season.

The blog, written by PA Sport journalists, offers comment and analysis of key player performances from the week's English Premier League and Football League Championship matches.

The new blog site gives football fans a unique opportunity to interact with the official Actim Index and express their opinion. Users can keep up-to-date with the latest performances and movements within the Actim Index and offer their own views, analysis and comment on the current standings.

The Actim Index is the official player rating system of the Barclays English Premier League and Coca-Cola Football League Championship and is now in its 4th season. It was devised by statisticians at the University of Salford in partnership with PA Sport and was first officially introduced in the 2004/05 season.

The Actim Index offers a definitive list of the best players from the top two English football leagues. Based on scientific statistical analysis of a player's performance, the Actim Index ranks footballers against one another, showing the in-form players of the week with a cumulative total kept as the season progresses.

The Premier League blog is updated during the season on a Tuesday after every round of matches and The Football League Championship blog on a Thursday after every round of matches.

The Actim Index Blog is now live and can be viewed at www.actimindex.wordpress.com.
